Sta~f recommends the Council adopt Resolution No. ?l?l.'1,
awarding the bids for tables, chairs and miscellaneous
furniture for calavera Park Community Center.
ITEK EXPLANATION:
The 1988-89 Budget includes funds in the Public Facilities
Accoµnt for the purchase of tables, chairs and
miscellaneous furniture for Calavera Park.
In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Municipal Code,
Notice to Bidders was published and Request for Bids was
made to eleven vendors. Five responses were received,
opened, witnessed and recorded on December 21, 1988.
The evaluation of the bids was done by the staff of the
Purchasing Department. Each item was examined to see if
~t met the specifications and was compatible with other
City furnishings. Next, the items were grouped together
by ~anufacturer; e.g., Kruegar, Steelcase, and the cost
comparisons were made. One vendor, O'Neill Envirocorp, is
a local vendor. In accordance with city Council Policy
No. 2?, one percent of the sales tax is to be subtracted
from the total price when evaluating and computing the bid
of a Carlsbad vendor. After the 1% discount was subtracted
from O'Neill Envirocorp's bid, they were the lowest
responsible bidder for items 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 10 in the
amount of $23,400.96.
The lowest responsive bid for items 6, a, 9, 11 and 12 was
submitted by Southwest Business Interiors, 9650 Chesapeake
Dr. , ·san Diego, CA 92123 in the amoimt of $1,721.13.
FISCAL IMPACT;
The total cost of the tables, chairs and miscellaneous
furniture is. $25,122.09. Unencumbered funds in the amount
of $298,382.48 are available in Account Number 320-840-
1822-3245 for the purchase of tables, chairs and
miscellaneous furniture.

AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF PURCHASE ORDERS
FOR TABLES, CHAIRS, AND MISCF.I,I,ANEOUS FURNITURE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of
Carlsbad, California ,as follows:
1. That the bid of O'Neill Envirocorp, 5152 Avenida
Encinas, Carlsbad, CA 92008, for Items 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and
10 is hereby accepted and the Purchasing Officer is hereby
authorized to execute a Purchase Order in the amount of
