HTG. 2/7/89 AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYSTEM AT CARLSBAD BOULEVARD AND CANNON ROAD
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. fq*ay accepting bids and awarding a contract for the installation of a traffic signal system at Carlsbad Boulevard and Cannon Road, Project No. 3270.
ITEM EXPLANATION
On December 20, 1988, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 88-
434 approving plans, specifications, and contract documents and authorizing the advertisement of bids for the installation of a traffic signal system at Carlsbad Boulevard and Cannon Road.
This project includes the installation of a traffic signal system at the intersection of Carlsbad Boulevard and Cannon Road with travel lane restriping including a striped median island from Tierra Del Oro to Manzano Drive with bike lanes in each direction.
On January 25, 1988, six (6) sealed bids were received as follows:
1. Select Electric Company
2. MCR Electrical Contractors
3. DBX, Incorporated
4. Knox Electric, Incorporated
5. Steiny & Company, Incorporated
6. D t H Perry, Incorporated

References have been verified on the low bidder and staff recommends award of the construction of the project to Select Electrical Company.
FISCAL IMPACT
On December 2, 1988, the City Council authorized the transfer of
$100,000 from project account number 300-820-1810-3302 to this project account number 300-820-1@&0-3270 for construction of this
signal system. Construction is anticipated to require
approximately ninety (90) calendar days to complete.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYSTEM AT CARLSBAD BOULEVARD AND CANNON ROAD
WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad
for construction of a traffic signal system at Carlsbad
Boulevard and Cannon Road, Project No. 3270; and
WHEREAS, the low bid received for the construction of
said project was submitted by Select Electric Company, in the
amount of $57,062; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the project account
number 300-820-18%0-327-0 for the construction of this project;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, hereby declares it necessary, desirable and in the
public interest to construct the aforementioned project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

2. That the bid of $57,062 by Select Electric Company
for Project No. 3270 for the construction of a traffic signal
system at Carlsbad Boulevard and Cannon Road is hereby accepted,
and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed
to execute a contract thereafter.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
Carlsbad City Council held on the 7th day of February I
1989, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Mamaux and Larson
NOES: None
ABSENT: Council Member Pettin
