RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPROPRIATION OF POLICE ASSET
FORFEITURE FUND
Adopt Resolution No,.B.J..:.S.2 , appropriating funds from the Police Asset
Forfeiture Fund for the acquisition of equipment and support of police
activities.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The City currently has a balance of $24,007.15 in the account which was set
up to receive these funds. At this time, these funds are not appropriated.
The recommended· action will appropriate the balance of this fund making it
available to the P.olice Department for expenditure. Once appropriated, these
funds Will be ·_controlled by the same rules which apply to other City funds,
including bidding procedures and the award of a contract. Proposals for these
f'1nds include the following types of expenditures:
Portable digital radar units for Traffic Division, ballistic raid jackets
for Vice/Narcotic Unit and support costs for enforcement activities
and services.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Police Asset Forfeiture Fund, Account 121, has a balance of $24,007.15.
The appropriation of these funds has no effect on City Generai Fund or other
funds. ,

A RESOLUTION OF TIIE CI1Y COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROPRIATING
FUNDS FROM THE POLICE ASSET FORFEITURE
FUND FOR THE SUPPORT' OF POLICE ACTIVITIES
WHEREAS, from time to time, the City of Carlsbad receives funds
and assets resulting from the Police Department's dn1g enforcement
activities; and
WHEREAS, s~ud funds must be restricted to use in supporting
police activities including the acquisition of equipment, supplies or

service; and

12 WHEREAS, the appropriation of said funds is necessary before
13 any expenditure of funds can take place; and
14 WHEREAS, the Police Forfeiture Asset Fund has an available fund
15 balance of $24,007.15;
16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
17 the City of Carlsbad. California, that the amount of $24,007.15 be
18 hereby appropriated from the available fund balance of the Police
19 Asset Forfeiture Fund for support of .Police activities.
