CAMPA I GN REPORT I NG IITG.~
IEPT.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
DEPT. HD. -
CITY MGR.
Adopt the proposed amendment and request staff to return with documents to amend the Municipal Code.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The current practice of campaign reporting only requires reporting of funds received in excess of $25.00 (twenty-five dollars) and the name, address, occupation, employer’s name or if self-employed.
This proposal would amend the Municipal Code to add the requirement that every candidate for a local office file copies of each and every check received in excess of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) as a campaign contribution. Requiring a copy of each check is only good business and will be an asset to the City.

TO : CITY MANAGER
FROM: Mayor Bud Lewis
In response to Mr. Mamaux's proposal to amend the
campaign reporting requirements as they pertain to
funds received in excess of $25.00, at this time
I believe we have a system which works very well,
and I do not feel that this proposed change would
benefit the citizens of Carlsbad.
I am satisfied with our present reporting system.
Sincerely,
Mayor
