RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. f?* 75 approving Change Order No. 10 for
construction of the Carlsbad Senior Center and CUSD Educai Center, Project No. 3247.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Carlsbad Senior Center and Carlsbad Unified School Dist Education Center project is currently under construction on Avenue. The project includes construction of a complete kit1 facility for the Seniors' nutrition program. The kitchen 1 also be made available for use for other functions occurrinc the building. The project plans and specifications did include the installation of a grease interceptor system to c and retain all grease and other heavy cooking and clea materials. In accordance with the Uniform Plumbing Code grease interceptor system is required equipment on all m kitchen facility projects which prevents these materials entering the City sewer system. The grease interceptor
periodically pumped out and cleaned during the course of rou kitchen facility maintenance.
In conjunction with the Project Architect, the City negotiated a Change Order with the Project Contractor to fur and install a 1,500 gallon grease interceptor system as requ by the Uniform Plumbing Code for a facility of this size.
Staff recommends approval of the attached Change Order No. 10
FISCAL IMPACT:
The lump sum price negotiated with the Contractor for installation of the required grease interceptor system
$8,119.91. There is a sufficient balance of funds in the pro
budget's construction contingency account for the additiol this item.
