RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. @- 18s accepting bids and awarding a contract
for the construction of improvements to Manzano Drive, Project No.
3313.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On April 18, 1989, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 89-122
authorizing the advertisement of bids for the construction of
improvements to Manzano Drive, Project No. 3313. On June 6, 1989,
three (3) sealed bids were received as follows:
ABC Construction Company South Coast Asphalt Drainage Construction Company
$ 72,889.36 $ 84,844.45
$ 90,455.50
This project will provide for the installation of half-width street
improvements, including curb, gutter, sidewalk, drainage facili-
ties, traffic signing and striping and an additional twenty (20)
feet of paved roadway. Construction will require approximately

design engineer's estimate for the construction portion of this
ject is $75,000. References have been verified on the low ler and staff recommends the award of this contract to ABC

ZAL IMPACT:
September 13, 1988, the City Council appropriated $15,000 of
y funding for the design and required geotechnical work for this
ject. Additionally, the City Council appropriated $25,000 in
1988-89 CIP budget. On April 18, 1989, the City Council roved an agreement with the State of California, Department of
ks and Recreation, in which the State will reimburse the City

RESOLUTION NO. 89-185
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND
AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF
IMPROVEMENTS TO MANZANO DRIVE, PROJECT N0.3313
WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad
for the construction of Improvements to Manzano Drive, Project
No. 3313; and
WHEREAS, the low bid received for said project was
submitted by ABC Construction Company in the amount of $72,889.36;
and
WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds available in the
Project Account No. 300-820-1840-3313 to award this contract.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of
the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the low bid submitted by ABC Construction
Company for the construction of Improvements to Manzano Drive,
Project No. 3313 is hereby accepted.

3. That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
and directed to execute a contract thereafter.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
Carlsbad City Council held on the l(lth day of June I
1989, by the following vote, to wit:
