RECOMMENDED ACTION:
staff recommends Council Adopt Resolution No. l{'Jtf,
authorizing the destruction of certain 2i _~es kept y the
Purchasing Department.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Section 34090 of the Government Code provides authority for
the d~struction of documents that are more than two years old
and no longer required. The consent of the city Attorney and
authorization of the City Council also is required prior to
the destruction of any document.
The doc\lllients listed in Exhibit 11 A" in Resolution No. f~;,t.,;
meet the requirements of Section 34090, and the city Attorney
has consented to their destruction.

NONE.

RESOLUTION NO 89-263
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING
THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN.FILES.
WHEREAS, maintaining obsolete files, correspondence, and
other papers is uneconomical, and
5 WHEREAS, Section 34090 of the Government Code provides
6 fo~ destruction of certain records, and
7 WHEREAS, the documents l·isted in Exhibit "A", attached
a hereto, and made a part hereof, have been reviewed by the
9 Purchasing Officer, and
10 WHEREAS, the Purchasing Officer recommends that all
11· documents listed in Exhibit "A" are no longer requirad and

meet the-requirements of Government Code Section 34090 for
destruction, and
WHEI¢As, the City Attorney ·has consented to the
destrucfion of the documents listed in Exhibit "A".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Carlsbad,
as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the Purchasing Officer is hereby authorized to
destroy the documents listed in Exhibit "A", attached
hereto.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
