RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution NO. 89 -28 3 accepting an offer of dedication for street purposes.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
As a condition of approval of Site Development Plan 85-02(A) the owner, Farmers Insurance,
was required to offer for dedication a portion of Faraday Avenue and El Camino Real for
future street widening. This is an irrevocable offer of dedication and not a granting of right-
of-way easement. The Local Facilities Plan for Zone 5 indicates that the Faraday Avenue/El
Camino Real Intersection will need additional improvements before buildout to maintain an
adequate level of service in accordance with Growth Management Standards.
Staff believes more detailed traffic study and design work is necessary in the future to
determine the exact lane configuration and right-of-way requirements.
This offer of dedication will remain in effect until the City accepts all or part of the offered
land concurrent with the need. In the meantime the property will remain on the tax role.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Accepting this offer will save the City money in future land acquisition expenses. The cost
of improving the Faraday Avenue/El Camino Real intersection has been included in the
Traffic Impact Fee and is schedule for design and construction sometime after 1998.

RESOLUTION NO. 89-283
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING AN OFFER OF DEDICATION
FOR A PORTION OF FARADAY AVENUE AND EL CAMINO REAL.
WHEREAS, F.I.G. Holding Company has submitted an offer of dedication conveying an
easement to the City of Carlsbad for street purposes over a portion of Parcels 1 and 2 of Parcel
Map 14258; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has determined it to be in the public
interest to accept said offer of dedication.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the irrevocable offer of dedication from F.I.G. Holding Company, dated July
13, 1989, for streets and highway purposes over a portion of Parcels 1 and 2 of Parcel Map
14258 to the City of Carlsbad which is on file with the City Clerk and is incorporated herein by
reference, is accepted.
