RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 89-308 establishing the Library Building Review
Committee and appointing a member of the City Council and three
citizens to the Committee.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The library staff has begun planning the new library building and
the remodel of the existing library. A consulting librarian has
been retained to assist with this process. To further enhance the
planning process, staff recommends establishing a Library Building
Review Committee. This Committee will function as an advisory
grow, will review and comment on the building programs and the
design of the buildings, and make recommendations to the Library
Board. It is recommended that the Committee be made up of the
following:
1 Library Board Member
1 Friends of the Library representative
1 City Council Member
1 Planning Commissioner
3 Citizens at large
1 Artist/Arts Professional
City staff that will work with this Committee will be the Library
Director, Assistant Library Director, Municipal Projects Manager and
the Planning Director.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No additional funding required.

RESOLUTION NO. 89-308
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING A LIBRARY BUILDING REVIEW COMMITTEE AND APPOINTING A COUNCIL MEMBER AND THREE CITIZENS TO THE COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, the City Council has approved the construction
new library; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable to provide the opportunity for
public involvement in the planning for the library buildings;
and
WHEREAS, the Library Building Review Committee will
function as an advisory group, will review and comment on the
building programs and designs, and make recommendations to the
Library Board; and
WHEREAS, the membership of the Library Building Review
Committee shall be:
1 Library Board member
1 Friends of the Library representative
1 City Council member
1 Planning Commissioner
3 Citizens at large
1 Artist/Arts Professional; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor shall appoint members to serve on the
Library Building Review Committee: and
WHEREAS, the Library Building Review Committee will carry
out its duties until design of the buildings is completed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the I
City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

established.
3. That the following are hereby appointed to the
Library Building review Committee:

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED AT A regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Carlsbad held on the 5th day of
September I 1989, by the following vote to Wit:
