ITEM EXPLANATION:
On July 18, 1989, the City Council approved the contract
documents, special provisions and specifications, and
authorized the City Clerk to advertise for bids for the 1988-
89 Chip Seal Program. The chip seal is to be applied to Chestnut Avenue, Carlsbad Boulevard, Tamarack Avenue, Marron
Road, El Camino Real and Elm Avenue.
Three (3) sealed bids were received, opened, witnessed and
recorded on August 28, 1989. The bids were reviewed by the
staffs of Purchasing and Utilities and Maintenance Departments. California Pavement Maintenance Company of San Diego, California, was the lowest responsive bidder in the amount of $255,780.00. The contractor*s registration and
bonds are in order and references are satisfactory. Other
bidders :
Asphalt, Inc. of El Cajon $420,478.25
Sim J. Harris Co. of San Diego $289,764.38
FIBCAL IMPACT:
The estimate for the work was $243,877.00, the actual cost for work is $255,380.00, and there are sufficient funds available in Account No. 001-820-5110-2412.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF CONTRACT NO.
U/M-24 FOR THE 1988-89 STREETS CHIP SEAL
PROGRAM
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND
WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad,
California, for the 1988-89 Streets Chip Seal Program;
WHEREAS, the lowest responsive bid received for the
project was submitted by California Pavement Maintenance
Company of San Diego, California, in the amount of
$255,380.00; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in account number 001-820-
5110-2412 for the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. The bid of $244,380.00 by the California Pavement
Maintenance Company of San Diego, for the 1988-89 Streets Chip
Seal Program, Contract No. U/M-24, is hereby accepted and the
Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute a
contract therefore.
