RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. rf*&% accepting bids and awarding a contract for the installation of a traffic signal system at Rancho Carlsbad
Drive and El Camino Real, Project No. 3317.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On September 5, 1989, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 89-
321 approving plans, specifications, and contract documents and authorizing the advertisement of bids for the installation of a traffic signal system at Rancho Carlsbad Drive and El Camino Real.
On August 31, 1989, six (6) sealed bids were received as follows:
1. Steiny & Company, Incorporated
2. Select Electric Company
3. D & H Perry, Incorporated
4. DBX, Incorporated
5. Knox Electric, Incorporated
6. MCR Electrical Contractors

References have been verified on the low bidder and staff
recommends award of the construction of the project to Steiny and Company, Incorporated.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds in the amount of $125,000 have been appropriated in the 1989-
90 Capital Improvement Program budget and are available in Account NO. 320-820-1840-3317.

RESOLUTION NO. 89-336
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND
AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF
A TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYSTEM AT EL CAMINO REAL AND RANCHO CARLSBAD DRIVE, PROJECT NO. 3317
WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad,
for construction of a traffic signal system at Rancho Carlsbad
Drive and El Camino Real, Project No. 3317; and
WHEREAS, the low bid received for the construction of
said project was submitted by Steiny and Company, Incorporated, in
the amount of $59,890; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the project account
number 300-820-1840-3317 for the construction of this project; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, hereby declares it necessary, desirable and in the
public interest to construct the aforementioned project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

2. That the bid of $59,890 by Steiny and Company,
Incorporated for Project No. 3317 for the construction of a traffic
signal system at El Camino Real and Rancho Carlsbad Drive is hereby
accepted, and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and
directed to execute a contract thereafter.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
Carlsbad City Council held on the 26th day of September I
1989, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Pettine, Mamaux and Larson
NOES: None
ABSENT: Council Member
