SALARY PLAN
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
City Council adopt Resolution No. fy~ 3b7, adopting the Police Salary Schedule.
ITEM EXPLhNATION
The Memorandum of Understanding with the Carlsbad Pol ice Officers’ Association
specifies that a salary survey will be conducted in September of 1989. The salaries will be set by means of a formula that will bring Carlsbad Police salaries to the
average of the Police agencies in San Diego county.
The survey results indicate that the salaries of Police Officer, Police Recruit, Senior Police Officer, Police Sergeant, Communications Operator I and I1 need to
be increased by 8.0%. The agreement calls for this increase to be applied
retroactive to July 1, 1989.
FISCAL IMPACT
The salary adjustments and related benefits for FY 1988-89 are $ 245,493 and will be supported by a transfer from the contingency fund. The contingency fund balance will be $ 447,323

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING SALARY PLAN FOR EMPLOYEES REPRESENTED BY THE CARLSBAD POLICE OFFICER'S ASSOCIATION FOR THE 1988-89 FISCAL YEAR
WHEREAS, the Council did on October 25, 1988, by Resolution No. 88-375
approve the Memorandum of Understanding between Management and
representatives of the Carlsbad Pol ice Officers' Association, which called
for certain salary adjustments; and
WHEREAS, it is now appropriate in accordance with said Resolution for
the City Council to implement said adjustments by amending the salary plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the Classification and Salary Range Schedules for Fire Safety
Personnel for Fiscal Year 1988-89 as set out in Exhibit A, attached hereto
and made a part hereof, are hereby adopted.
3. The 8.0% salary increase will be retroactive to July 1, 1989.
4. That the amount of $245,493 be transferred from the Contingency
Fund to support these salary adjustments.
