RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends the Council adopt Resolution No. JtJ-.11:L ,
awarding the bid for various vehicles.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The City of Carlsbad and Carlsbad Municipal Water District
partiqipated in this coc.1perati ve bid for various vehicles.
The 1989-90 Budget includes funds in Parks and Recreation's
Parks Operations and Parks Trees Capital outlay Accounts as
well as Engineering, Building Inspectors, and Police
Forfeiture capital outlay Accounts.
In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Municipal Code,
Notice to Bidders was published and Request for Bids was made
of thirty-four vendors. Thirteen responses were received,
opened, witnessed and recorded on September 29, 1989. The
lowest responsive bid for Item #1 was submitted by Downey Auto
center, 9500 Lakewood Blvd., Downey CA 90240 in the amount
of $14,000.00 plus t~x.
The lowest responsive bid for Items #2, 5, and 6 was submitted
by Fuller Ford, 76G Broadway, Chula Vista CA 92010, in the
amount of $44,479.50 plus tax.
City Chevrolet, 2111 Morena Blvd., San Diego CA 92110,
submitted the lowest responsive bid for Item #3 for the amount
of $13,331.03 plus tax.
The Carlsbad Municipal Water District will make their
selection from Item #1, the all wheel drive compact van, and
Item #4, the service and maintenance truck; and will make the
award of contract for same.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The total cost of vehicles is $71,810.53 plus tax. Funds are
available in the following accounts as shown:

RESOLUTION NO. 89-372
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING
BIDS AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF
PURCHASE ORDERS FOR VEHICLES.
6 BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
7 Carlsbad, as follows:
8 1. That the bid of Downey Auto Center, 9500
9 Lakewood Blvd., Downey CA 90240, for Item #1 as shown on
10 Exhibit "A", is accepted and the Purchasing Officer is hereby
11 authorized to execute a Purchase Order for the purchase of
12 an all wheel drive compact van in the amount of $14,000.00
13 plus tax.
14 2. That the bid of Fuller Ford, 760 Broadway, Chula
15 Vista CA 92010, for Items #2, 5, and 6 as shown on Exhibit
16 "A", is hereby accepted and the Purchasing Officer is hereby
1 7 authorized to execute a Purchase Order for the purchase of a
18 compact pick-up with extended cab and two stake bed dump
19 trucks in the amount of $44,479.50 plus tax.
20 3 . That the bid of City Chevrolet, 2111 Morena
21 Blvd., San Diego CA 92110, for Item #3 as shown on Exhibit
22 "A", is hereby accepted and the Purchasing Officer is hereby
23 authorized to execute a Purchase Order for the purchase of a
24 3/4 ton pickup in the amount of $13,331.03 plus tax.
