EXTENSION OF EMPLOYMENT LIST
City Council adopt Resolution No.8$-398 extending the list for Fire Engineer from November 15, 1988 to May 15, 1989.
ITEM EXPLANATION
The Human Resources Department established an Employment List for Fire Engineer on November 15, 1988. There were eight qualified candidates on the list and the department had nine openings for the position of Fire engineer. Because of the need to fill the vacancies, Human Resources created a second employment list on May 15, 1989. The Staff wishes to extend the November 15 employment list to correspond with the expiration of the second employment list on May 15, 1990. These recruitments took a great deal of time and expense to conduct, and each list still has a number of qual i f i ed appl i cants. I FISCAL IMPACT I There is no fiscal impact. In fact, the extension of this list will reduce recruitment costs. I EXHIBITS

RESOLUTION NO. 89-378
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA? EXTENDING THE LIST FOR FIRE CAPTAIN TO OCTOBER 28, 1990
WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends and the City Council concurs, that the
list for Fire Engineer should be extended.
NOW, THEREFORE? BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California? as follows:

That the above recitations are true and correct.
That the City Council authorized and directs the City Manager to extend
the list for Fire Engineer from November 15, 1988 to May 15, 1989.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City
Council on the 7th day of November ? 1989, by the following vote, to
wit:
