U&M REPLACEMENT PROGRAM RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. 8?-+00 accepting bids and awarding a contract in the amount of $61,963.20 to J.H.P. Construction of Oceanside, California for the replacement of curbs, gutters and sidewalks in various locations in the City. ITEM EXPLANATION: On September 12, 1989, the City Council approved contract documents, special provisions and specifications and authorized the City Clerk to advertise for bids for the 1988- 89 Curbs, Gutters & Sidewalks Replacement Program. The replacement work will be accomplished in 154 locations on the following streets in the City: Gibralter, Jerez Court, Garboso Street and Place, Romeria, Levante, Navarra, Viejo Castilla Way, Sacada Circle, Primovera Way, San Bristo Way, Cortina Court, Galleon Way, Galicia Way, Mallorca Place, Badajoz Place, and Calle Madero. Three (3) sealed bids were received, opened, witnessed and recorded on October 16, 1989. The bids were reviewed by the Staffs of the Purchasing and Utilities and Maintenance Departments. J.H.P. Construction of Oceanside, California, was the lowest responsive bidder in the amount of $61,963.20. The contractor's registration and bonds are in order and references are satisfactory. Other bidders: Schaefer Construction, Encinitas, CA $ 84,566.87 Manual Juarez, Vista, CA 147,971.66 FISCAL IMPACT: The City's estimate is $84,635.00 and funds are available in Account Number 001-820-5110-2411.
