CITY II' RECOMMENDED ACTION: City Council adopt Resolution No. S'i-qf 5 accepting a $3,463 donation from Gerico's Bar & Grill toward the purchase of equipment at the new Carlsbad Senior Center. ITEM EXPLANATION: Since September 1987, Gerico's Bar & Grill, 850 Tamarack Avenue in Carlsbad, has sponsored an Annual Golf Tournament and in 1988 they additionally started an annual dinner botk which will benefit programs at the Carlsbad Senior Center. Gerico's 3rd Annual Carlsbad Senior Center Benefit Golf Tournament took place on Saturday, September 16, 1989, at thf Lomas Santa Fe Executive Golf Course. The Gerico's sponsorec fundraising dinaer was- held on the following day, Sunday September 17, 1983, SENIOR COMMISSION E;1ECOMl"DATION: At their meeting on November 2, 1989, the Senior Commissio voted unanimously to recommend acceptance of $3,463 raise through the Gerico's Bar & Grill 3rd Annual Carlsbad Senio Center Benefit Golf Tournament and Fundraising Dinner. Th Senior Commission recommends that this donation be deposite into the Senior Citizen Trust Fund and be utilized towards tF purchase of special equipment at the new Senior Center. FISCAL IMPACT: The $3,463 donation has been deposited into the Senior Citizt Trust Fund Account #880-519-9203-0000. EXHIBITS : 1. The purchase a MiniBus for the Senior Ct tournament was held at Lomas Santa Fe - The Fieldstone Company has offerc Executive Course in Solana Beach, ‘The 56 match all donations until Dec. 31, 198! golfers who participated used the Catllaway Catherine Barker, Fred Bone, , Rules and enjoyed the afternoon. Also, many thanks to on their face. who donated anonymously; you knot Gerico’s donated all of their staff time as well as the restaurant and food. 100% of the proceeds went to the Senior Center. As a result of this overwhelming generosity and interest in supporting the Senior program in Carlsbad, $3463 was raised. Our deepest, thanks go to Gerico’s for their dedication and hard work. Our thanks, also, to all of you who supported the effort. Jean Ballard deserves an extra big thanks for her hard work in contacting local businesses to secure prizes for raffle items as well as prizes for the golfers. A very special thanks goes to those volunteers who raised funds by selling dinner tickets. Bee McKissick and Theresa Maggio also deserve special mention for the donations they secured. Carlsbad is a special community with business leaders and citizens who self- lessly support the Senior Center. We at the Senior Center would like to say thank you to all who generously donated. Funds raised will be used to purchase special items needed for the new Center. WHEREAS, Gerico's Bar & Grill donated three thousanc four hundred sixty three dollars ($3,463) for specia: equipment at the New Senior Center; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept thir gift; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Counci' of the City of Carlsbad as follows: 1. That the City Council accepts the donation of thre thousand four hundred sixty three dollars ($3,463) on behal of the Seniors of the City of Carlsbad.
