RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 89-420 accepting the construction of five (5) traffic signals and signal interconnect systems as complete and directing the City Clerk to record the Notice of Completion for Project Nos. 3272, 3274, 3279, 3281 and 3282.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On March 21, 1989, the City Council awarded a construction contract to Select Electric, Incorporated, for the following improvements:

satisfactorily completed and - - placed into service. The wiring of the traffic signal
interconnection on Tamarack Avenue between Adams Streets and
Jefferson Street is also complete. The programming of the signals
to operate sequentially across the 1-5 freeway is the responsibility of the California Department of Transportation (CALTRANS). Refinement of the Tamarack Avenue signal timing will occur over the next several months as motorists adjust their
driving habits to the new signals.
The signal interconnection on El Camino Real between Tamarack Avenue and Kelly is also complete, but not programmed. This work will occur after completion of the water line construction by the Carlsbad Municipal Water District.
Staff recommends acceptance of the traffic signal and interconnection improvements and requests authorization to record the Notice of Completion.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The City Council has appropriated funds to the following accounts
in the 1987-88 and 1988-89 CIP budgets. The following current
appropriations also reflect a previously approved $20,000 funds
transfer from Project No. 3282 to Project No. 3272:

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE CONSTRUCTION OF TRAFFIC SIGNAL AND
SIGNAL INTERCONNECTION, PROJECT NOS. 3272,
3274, 3279. 3281 AND 3282
WHEREAS, the construction of Traffic Signal and Signal
Interconnection Projects have been satisfactorily completed: and
WHEREAS, all projects costs are established.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the construction of Traffic Signal and Signal
Interconnection Projects, specifically identified as Project Nos.
3272, 3274, 3279, 3281 and 3282 is deemed complete and hereby
accepted.
3. That the City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad,
California, is hereby authorized to execute the Notice of
Completion and have same recorded.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
Carlsbad City Council held on the 5th day of December I
