TITLE: APPOINTMENT OF
SUBCOMMITTEE
(ACTION)
DEPT. HD
CITY ATTY
CITY MGR.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Select members of the Commission Park Site and Facility Planning
Subcommittee to review and recommend park enhancement opportunities in the
northwest quadrant.
ITEM EXPLANATION
At the November 14, 1989 City Council meeting, the Park Site and Facility
Planning Subcommittee's final report on Northwest Quadrant Park Issues was
presented. The final report was unanimously accepted by the Council. The
recommended action outlined in the agenda bill was as follows:
"Accept the Park Site and Facility Planning Subcommittee
Report on Northwest Quadrant Park Issues and consider
recommendations as determined by the Parks and Recreation
Commission. Direct staff to continue working with the
subcommittee to analyze the possible sites for future
recreational development in the northwest quadrant; return
to the Commission for a final recommendation to be
incorporated in preparation of the capital improvement
program for ultimate consideration by the City Council."
The principal function of this Committee will be to address Issue Number 4
of the Northwest Quadrant Park Issue Report: To improve upon the number of
existing areas for recreational use in the northwest quadrant, specific
sites have been identified for possible buy/sen/lease/trade/develop or
rehabilitate.
The Subcommittee recommendation, as outlined in the report was that any
specific site development project would follow the normal channels of park
and facility development. Normal channels would require staff review with
a Commission Subcommittee to identify and scope the initial need and
purpose of facility development. Proposed projects would then be presented
to the Parks and Recreation Commission for approval to be included in the
CIP Budget for ultimate consideration by the City Council.
Current members assigned to the Park Site and Facility Planning
Subcommittee are as follows: (1) S. Dahlquist-Bursvold, (2) T. Lawson, (3)
K. Welshons, (4) J. Strayer, (5) C. Ward.
