RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends Council
authorizing the transfer of
Volunteer Fire Department.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
adopt Resolution No .. ft,-¥..L,
surplus property to the San Pasqual
The Fire Department's equipment replacement program and
operating procedure changes have resulted in a number of items
becoming available as surplus property. The San Pasqual
Volunteer Fir~ Department, located near the San Diego Wild
Animal Park, recently suffered the loss of several thousand
dollars worth of fire equipment and has expressed interest in
any surplus equipment that the City of Carlsbad might have
available.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Qnly one of the surplus items is listed on the City's Fixed
Asset Inventory. This is a portable radio, purchased in 1986 at
a cost of $1,039.27. It has been replaced by a radio better
suited for use in the fire service. The present value of the
radio is estimated to be $100. The other items have an estimated
value of approximately $1,200. The council's decision to donate
this surplus equipment to San Pasqual Volunteer Fire Department
will have negligible effect on the General Fund revenue for
1989-90.

RESOLUTION NO. 90-42
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING CERTAIN ITEMS
SURPLUS AND AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF SAME TO
THE SAN PASQUAL VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, the city of Carlsbad has determined certain items
5 surplus; and
6 WHEREAS, contribution of this surplus equipment would
7 greatly benefit neighboring San Pasqual Volunteer Fire Department;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, the donation of the surpl~s equipment would have
10 negligible effect on the General Fund revenue of 1989-90.
11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
12 City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
13 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
14 2. That the items listed in Exhibit "A" be declared surplus.
15 3. That the city Manager is hereby authorized and directed
16 to transfer said items to the San Pasqual Volunteer Fire
17 Department.
