OF MSA BREATHING APPARATUS

' Staff recommends the Council adopt Resolution No. f#~</J,
accepting the bid for the annual purchase of MSA Breathing
Apparatus from Special T Fire Equipment Inc.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Fire Department with the concurrence of the city Manager has
determined that standardization of MSA Breathing Apparatus was
in the best interest of the city. The City of Carlsbad and four
county agencies participated in this joint cooperative bid for
MSA Breathing Apparatus. Each public agency will place their
respective order(s) with the selected vendor.
In order to take advantage of purchasing in volume, a bid
proposal for annual usage of MSA Breathing Apparatus was
developed and Request to Bid was sent to six vendors. on
February a, 1990 three bids were opened, witnessed and recorded.
Special T Fire Equipment Inc., P.O. Box 1086, Santa Rosa, CA
~5402 submitted the lowest responsive bid. A summary of the
items and related costs a:re shown in Exhibit "A".
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Fire Department anticipates spending approximately $17,000
for MSA Breathing Apparatus this fiscal year. Funds in the
amount of $24,135.37 are available in Fire Suppression's
Expendable Tools Account No. 00l-840-2220-2640 for the purchase
of these items.

RESOLUTION NO. 90-43
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE BID FROM
SPECIAL T FIRE EQUIPMENT INC. FOR T~E ANNUAL
PURCHASE OF MSA BREATHING APPARATUS.
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad wishes to join with various County
agencies in the purchase of MSA Breathing Apparatus; and
WHEREAS, bid proposals were solicited from six ~endors; and
WHEREAS, it is advantageous to the City ~o order the MSA Breathing
Apparatus through the means of a joint cooperative bid.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the bid for MSA Breathing Apparatus be awarded to Special T Fire
Equipment Inc., PO Box 1086, Santa Rosa, CA 95402.
3. That the Purchasing Officer be authorized to execute Purchase
Order(s) for MSA Breathing Apparatus as may be required for~ period of one
year beginning March 1, 1990 through February 28, 1991 with the option to renew
for three (3) additional one (1) year periods.
