HI CITY ATl DEPT.cH___._ CITY MG RECOl:!!:!ENDED :KOTION: Staff recommends the Council adopt Resolution No. D- 9 awarding a bid for the Water Meter Replacement Program to Schlumberger Industries/Neptune Division. ITEM EXPLANATION: The 1989-90 budget contains $39,400 for the Water Meter Replacement Program. This year the Utilities and Maintenance's Water Division will begin an ongoing program to replace old and outdated water meters. Normal meters have an estimated 15 year life period. Upon reaching this point in time, these meters become difficult to read, thus requiring more time and maintenance, and sometimes become inaccurate, generally to the benefit of the user. In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Municipal Code, Notice to Bidders was published and Requests for Bid was made of nine vendors. On February 6, 1990 six responses were received, opened, witnessed and recorded. Utilities and Maintenance staff evaluated the bids and determined Schlumberger Industries/Neptune Division, 11725 Willake Street, Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670, submitted the most responsive bid of $39,000 for this program. FISCAL IMPACT: Unencumbered funds in the amount of $39,400 are available in Water Division's Account No. 501-840-6310-2489. EXHIBITS: I. Tabulation of Bids - Exhibit "A". 2.
