LIB RECOMMENDED ACTION: MTG.- Adopt Resolution No. qD-YJaccepting a donation of $3,000 from Target Stores. ITEM EXPLANATION: Target Stores is providing funds to the City of Carlsbad Arts Office in thc amount of $3,000 to help fund the Make-A-Circus performance on Sunday, Jul: 22, 1990, at Magee Park at 12:30 p.m. Make-A-Circus is a twenty-year-old performing troupe which regularly tours California, presenting free performances of participatory circus shows. T circus company presents a one-hour show with magic, acrobatics, clowning, aerial arts, a live band and a story format. Then the audience is invited to participate and is taught simple circus skills. Another show with a different story line is then presented in which the children and parents take part. has been presented by the Carlsbad Arts Office since 1987. most popular event with 1 oca1 famil ies. The July 22nd performance will be the third time Make-A-Circus It has been a FISCAL IMPACT: The cost for a one-day appearance by Make-A-Circus is $4,300. ACCEPTING A DONATION FROM TARGET STORES. The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the City's Arts Office provides cultural opportunities for Carlsbad residents; and WHEREAS, Target Stores is providing funds in the amount of $3,000 to the Carlsbad Arts Office to help fund the Make-A-Circus performance o Sunday, July 22, 1990; and WHEREAS, the Make-A-Circus performance is free to the public and is a popular event. This will be the third year it has been presented b the Carlsbad Arts Office; and WHEREAS, the cost for a one-day appearance by Make-A-Circus is Additional funds to present the circus will come from a $4,300. California Arts Council Grant in the amount of $860, and the City of Carlsbad Arts Office, acct. #001-820-4210-2495 in the amount of $440. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City 0' Carlsbad as follows: I 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2.
