ENG : MP ~ AND AUTHORIZATION TO BID CONSTRUCTION OF THE TYLER STREET ALLEY IMPROVE- MENTS, PROJECT NO. 3738 CITY A CITY M I I I 1 RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No.qO-!d authorizing the City Clerk to advert: for bids for repaving the Tyler Street alley, Project No. 3738. ITEM EXPLANATION: The City of Carlsbad Housing and Redevelopment Agency has recei\ a $35,000 Community Development Block Grant to repave an all opposite Tyler Street, between Oak Avenue and Carlsbad Villz Drive. The new alley improvements include the replacement of the bro3 asphalt and construction of a new concrete gutter along the cenl of the alley to improve drainage. The existing large eucalypl tree at the Oak Avenue entrance will remain. Construction of 1 the overhead utility lines. The condition of the alley made advisable to proceed with the construction at this time. alley improvements does not preclude the future undergrounding ENVIRONMENTAL AND PLANNING REVIEW: The repaving of the Tyler Street alley is categorically exempt fi the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act (CE! for maintenance work to an existing street. Reference is made Section 15301 of CEQA describing a class 1 exemption for this k: of maintenance construction. Maintenance work costing less than $50,000 is not a capital projc within the definition of the City Administrative Order No. Therefore, the Planning Commission is not required to issue finding of a general plan consistency for this work.
