RECOMMENDED ACTION~
Adopt Resolution No. ~-/J. f' , appropriating funds from the General Fund to
the Police Department Training Account 001-840-2140-2980, for the funding
of police training. The amount of appropriated funds will be $15,000.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The City of Carlsbad receives partial reimbursement for state approved police
training from the Commission on Peace Officers' Standards of Training (POST).
These reimbursements are deposited into the General Fund.
As of March 30, 1990, $32,417 had been returned to the General Fund as a
result of POST reimbursements. Additional training reimbursements will be
forthcoming as training continues.
The recommended action will appropriate $15,000 of these reimbursement
funds to the police training budget. These funds will augment additional
training requirements.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The 1989-90 budgeted revenue for this account was $10,705. Revenue
received through March 31, 1990, is $32,417. The appropriation of $15,000
will not negatively impact revenue estimates.

RESOLUTION NO. 90-128
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROPRIATING
FUNDS FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TRAINING
BUDGET
WHEREAS, the Police Department of the City of Carlsbad is
dedicated to maintaining a well trained and efficient force; and
WHEREAS, the City Council annually appropriates funds from
General Fund for the training of Police Officers; and
WHEREAS, the Peace Officers' Standards and Training
reimburses the City for a significant amount of such training costs;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad will receive reimbursement
during FY 1989~90 in excess of the amount originally estimated by
at least $15,000; and
WHEREAS, the appropriation of funds is necessary to continue
and to maintain the level of training required within the department;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by th: City Council of
the City of Carlsbad, California, that the amount of $15,000 is
hereby appropriated from the General Fund Unappropriated Fund
Balance to the Police Department Training Account.
