RECOMMENDED ACTION:
City Council adopt Resolution No. B-dLd , approving adjustment to the
Management Salary Plan for the positions of Police Chief, Police Captain, and
Police Lieutenant.
AMENDMENT TO THE POLICE MANAGEMENT
SALARY PLAN
TITLE
ITEM EXPLANATION:
According to Council Policy Statement No. 36, salary increases granted to CPOA
will be passed through to Police management employees as they are granted to
CPOA. Therefore, the salary for the positions of Police Chief, Police Captain, and
Police Lieutenant must be adjusted by a Five percent (5%) general wage increase
plus a Three and one quarter percent (3.25%) special equity adjustment to be
applied simultaneously. This adjustment will be retroactive to June 25, 1990, as
called for in the agreement.
FISCAL IMPACT
Cost of salary adjustments and related benefits is $60,129 for 1990-91 fiscal year
to be supported by a transfer from the General Fund Contingency Account. The
General Fund Contingency Account balance will be $

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING AN ADJUSTMENT TO
THE MANAGEMENT SALARY PLAN FOR THE POSITIONS OF
POLICE CHIEF. POLICE CAPTAIN. AND POLICE LIEUTENANT.
WHEREAS, Council Policy Statement No. 36 specifies that salary
increases granted to the Police bargaining unit shall be passed through to
Police management employees; and
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Police Officers' Association received a 5.0%
general wage and 3 1/4% equity adjustment increase retroactive to June 25,
1990; and
WHEREAS, funds for this salary adjustment are available in the City's
General Fund Contingency Account; and
WHEREAS, changes are necessary to the Management Salary Plan.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the 5.0% general wage and 3 1/4% equity adjustment
granted to CPOA will be passed through to the positions of Police Chief,
Police Captain, and Police Lieutenant, retroactive to June 25, 1990.
3. That the amount of $60,129 be transferred from the General
Fund Contingency Account to support these salary adjustments.
4. That the Management Salary Plan set forth in Exhibit A,
attached hereto and made a part hereof, is adopted.
