RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.,@-AIE authorizing the purchase of two pieces of pub
artwork - one located at Stagecoach Park and the other located on the blumc
wal hay.
ITEM EXPLANATION
The third annual temporary art exhibition has 5 pieces of artwork in place u
mid-August. This year the pieces were placed at Magee Park, Stagecoach P
and along the blufftop walkway by the ocean.
During the past two temporary exhibitions, the Arts Commission discussed
possibility of purchasing one or more pieces from the exhibition, however
timing did not work and the show was dismantled before any action was tal
The Arts Commission instructed staff to place this item on its July agenda to a

The first piece they recommend for purchase is the bench on the blufftop wall
across from Sycamore Street. The artwork is a tile design applied to a benc
artist Raul Guerrero. The artwork is valued at $5,000. Purchase of the tiled b

collaborated on the piece which consists of stones with symbols of water in
on its surface, carved in the style of a petroglyph. Each symbol represen
various cultural groups who depended on this water source at various
throughout its history. The artwork is valued at $10,000. Purchase of the br
pathway artwork will cost the City $2,500.
