PCH ClVY M( RECOMMENDED ACTION: Staff recommends Council adopt Resolution No. $?/-95 , authorizing the surplus vehicles and trucks to City of Tijuana, La Mesa State Prison and Tijuana State l Center. ITEM EXPLANATION The County of San Diego Department of Transborder Affairs has assisted the City of in obtaining surplus emergency vehicles. In 1988 and 1990, the City Council author sale of surplus police vehicles to the City of Tijuana, B.C. Recently, the City was contacted by the County of San Diego Department of Tran Affairs about the possibility of purchasing surplus emergency vehicles and trucks Tijuana Police and Public Works Departments, La Mesa State Prison, and Tijuar Juvenile Center. At the present time, the City has eleven surplus emergency vehic two surplus dump trucks that have been replaced as a part of the vehicle repk program. A fair selling price has been established based on the price received for comparable and trucks at the County auction. This price has been accepted by the representatik the various Mexican agencies involved. Surplus equipment is usually sold at the City auction. However, with the approval of the City Council, surplus items can be disr outside the auctioning process. The inventory of surplus vehicles and trucks are listed in Exhibit "AI'. The La Mesa State Prison - Signed by Director Major Miguel Boulirat expressing gratitude f assistance in securing a patrol vehicle for use by that institution. The Tijuana State Juvenile Center - Signed by the Director Lic. Jorge Albert0 Duarte Castil requesting assistance in securing vehicles for the transfer of juveniles. The availability and prices have been discussed with the above named agencies and they a in accord that the one 1984 Crown Victoria (Lic. #E456731) A461 should be sold to the Tijuai Juvenile Center and that the 1985 Crown Victoria (Lic. # E461 570) A501 should be sold to ti La Mesa Penitenthj. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING ELEVEN EMERGENCY VEHICLES AND TWO DUMP TRUCKS SURPLUS AND AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF SAID ITEMS TO CITY OF TIJUANA, LA MESA STATE PRISON AND TIJUANA STATE JUVENILE CENTER WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has determined emergency vehicles and trucks are surplus; and WHEREAS, it would be beneficial to the City of Carlsbad to sell thes to City of Tijuana, La Mesa State Prison and Tijuana State Juvenile Center.
