RECOMMENDED ACTION:
City Council adopt Resolution No. 41 -lG%
description for Storekeeper.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Human Resources Department in concurrence with the Purchasing
Department is recommending that the classification of Storekeeper be
revised. Staff has analyzed the position and found that the prior
Storekeeper job specification was previously developed for a fleet
maintenance function. The major change proposed is to designate this
as a classification within the Central Stores of the Purchasing
Department.

buying, storing, issuing and delivering material, supplies and
equipment.

data entry skills.
Modify educatiordexperience to include experience in orderin!

for various commodities in storeroom or warehouse, includini
use of computerized inventory/stock control system or
procedures.

FISCAL IMPACT:
It is recommended that the salary range remain at Range 13, $754.46
$917.06 biweekly. The annual salary range for this position is $19,6
$23,844. This position is funded in the current 1990-91 fiscal year
budget and this action will result in no fiscal impact.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE
CLASSIFICATION PLAN OF THE CITY TO REVISE THE
CLASSIFICATION OF ST0 REKEEPER.
WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends and the City Council
concurs, that the classification of Storekeeper should be revised
and included in the City's Classification Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:

The above recitation is true and correct.
That the City Council authorizes and directs the City
Manager to revise the classification of Storekeeper as described
in Attachment A, attached hereto and made a part thereof.

JOB TITLE,: Storekeeper
DEPARTMENT: Purchasing
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under general direction, to supervise the operations of a stores facility;
and to perform related work as required.
PlSTlNGUlSHING C HARACTERISTICS:
This position is expected to perform a full range of Storekeeping duties.
Duties of this position include buying, receiving, storing, and issuing a
variety of supplies and materials.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Buying, receiving, storing, issuing and delivering materials, supplies and
equipment; maintains records documenting these activities.
Maintain automated inventory control for all stock maintained in the
facility .
Arranges layout of storerooms.
Conducts inventories as required.
Prepares special and periodic reports.
Operates various material handling equipment.
