HEAD START
I have been contacted by representatives of the Head Start Child Care Program to see if the CiQ can assist in locating properties for the siting of a Head Start Program. Apparently, the Federa Government is making significant funding available for Head Start and Child Care Programs anc as a result, it doesn’t appear that the Head Start Program will be requesting any funding from thr
City. Their goal is to provide for a facility to care for 60 children (30 in the morning and 30 in thi afternoon). This requires approximately 1400-1 500 square feet of indoor space, an1 approximately 3,000 square feet of outdoor play area, and a minimum of one adult bathroom an two children’s bathrooms.
Since child care has been one of my passions for many years, 1 intend to place an agenda b
before the City Council for consideration authorizing the City and staff to provide assistance .
