RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution N0.91'2~ gauthorizing the appropriation of $7,000 from the Central
Garage Replacement Fund and approving the purchase of a replacement motorcycle.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Motorcycle A248 is presently four years old and has been driven 38,000 miles. The
life-to-date repairs costs for this unit are $5,600.00. Presently, $2,500.00 in estimated
repair costs are needed to make this motorcycle fully operational. Rather than incur
these expenses for an old and troublesome unit, it is recommended that a new unit be
purchased and motorcycle A248 be sold at auction. Under the normal replacement
policy this motorcycle would be replaced in Fiscal Year 1992-93. The estimated
acquisition cost for a new motorcycle is $7,000.00.
FISCAL IMPACX:
Motorcycle A248 was purchased in 1987 and is in the replacement program.
Approximately $7,000.00 has been set aside for its replacement.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCL OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION OF
$7,000.00 AND APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A
REPLACEMENT POLICE MOTORCYCLE
WHEREAS, Motorcycle A248 is four years old and has run 38,001
miles; and
WHEREAS, recorded life-to-date costs for the repair of this unit exceec
$5,600, and present repair estimates are $2,500; and
WHEREAS, the estimated acquisition cost for a new motorcycle i
$7,000; and this amount has been recovered through the replacement program,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the appropriation c
$7,000 from the Central Garage Replacement Fund balance is authorized an
appropriated into the Central Garage Capital Outlay account and the purchase i
approved for a replacement motorcycle.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the CiT
, 1991 Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, held on 20th day of August
and by the following vote, to wit:
