DEPT. U&M FOR THE 1991-92 PAVEMENT OVERLAY PROGRAM
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 41 *da approving contract documents, special provisions and
specifications; and authorizing the City Clerk to advertise for bids for the 1991-92
Pavement Overlay Program.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The City has a multi-faceted street maintenance program. A major element of this
program is the Pavement Overlay Program. The overlay application is used when the
condition of the existing roadway has deteriorated and the application of a new surface
is required. Based on surveys and observations, the Streets Division has established a
list of locations which require overlay applications. The list of locations and a work
schedule is attached.
It should be noted that pavement overlay projects sometimes result in increased claims
for windshield and paint damage. The contractor is responsible for the administration
of all contract related claims.
Plans and specifications for the Pavement Overlay Program are on file with the
Purchasing Department and the Utilities & Maintenance Department.
FISCAL IMPACX
The City Council approved funds in the amount of $750,861 for the entire 1991-92
Asphalt Repair and Maintenance program. Project costs for the Pavement Overlay are
estimated to be $320,666. Funds are available in account number 001-820-5110-2412.

DOCUMENTS, SPECIAL PROVISIONS AND
SPECIFICATIONS, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK
OVERLAY PROGRAM
TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE 1991-92 PAVEMENT
WHEREAS, the contract documents, special provisions and specifica
for the furnishings of all labor, material, tools, equipment, transportation and (
expenses necessary and incidental for the 1991-92 Pavement Overlay Program, 1
been prepared and are on file in the City Clerk’s Office of the City of Carlsbad anc
incorporated by reference herein.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the Ci

The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized
directed to proceed to publish, in accordance with law, Nc
