AMENDMENT OF TITLE 20 OF
MUNICIPAL CODE TO REQUIRE
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON MAPS. DEPT.ENG. - I I
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
If the City Concurs, your action is as follows:
1. Introduce Ordinance N~.~S-I'?amending Title 20 of the Municipal Code to
require additional information on Final Maps and Parcel Maps.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
During the processing of Final Maps and Parcel Maps staff has found that it is necessary
to convey certain pieces of information that are not normally required, but which are
important to future owners and for future reference by city staff when projects are brought
forward for review. For example, staff believes it is important to map out coastal deed
restricted areas to ensure that in the future, when owners apply for construction permits,
it is clear what those lestrictions are. In the past, there have been some instances where
issues have been overlooked and missed.
To place this additional information on the maps, it is required that the Municipal Code
be amended. Staff has prepared the ordinance which is attached and is recommending
that the City Council approve the amendment.

ORDINANCE NO. NS-172
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 20, CHAPTERS 20.20 AND 20.32 OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE ADDITION OF SECTIONS 20.20.060(8) AND
20.32.040(9) TO REQUIRE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON
FINAL MAPS.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California,
does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1: That Title 20.20 Section 20.20.060, of the
Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended by the addition of a new
Subsection 20.20.060(8) to read as follows:
"Additional information as required by the city
building setback lines, flood hazard zones, seismic engineer which may include, but is not limited to,
archaeological sites and other restricted areas. The
lines and setbacks, airport influence areas,
additional information shall be in the form of a
separate document or an additional map sheet which
shall indicate its relationship to the final or parcel
map, and shall contain a statement that the additional
conditions as of the date of filing, and is not
information is for informational purposes, describing
intended to affect record title interest."
SECTION 2: That Title 20, Chapter 20.32.040 of the
Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended by the addition of a new
Subsection 20.32.040(9) to read as follows:
"Additional information as required by the city engineer which may include, but is not limited to, building setback lines, flood hazard zones, seismic
archaeological sites and other restricted areas. The
lines and setbacks, airport influence areas,
additional information shall be in the form of a
separate document or an additional map sheet which

EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective
thirty days after its adoption, and the city clerk shall certify

to the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published
at least once in the Carlsbad Journal within fifteen days after
its adoption.
INTRODUCED AkD FIRST READ at a regular meeting of the
Carlsbad City Council on the loth day of , 1991,
and thereafter
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Carlsbad on the 17th day of Seutember
, 1991, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Larson, Stanton and Nygaarc
