PCH CITY M RECOMMENDED ACTION: Staff recommends Council adopt Resolution No. 'I / - 3g g , awarding the bid to Telt San Diego for video cameras for the City of Carlsbad Council Chambers and approp additional funds from the General Fund Contingency account. ITEM EXPLANATION Currently, Daniels Cablevision Company provides the use of three of their studio ca each week to broadcast the Council meetings. Due to lack of studio lighting, the broi quality is somewhat inferior. Broadcast quality will be greatly improved by the purch low light Coupled Chip Device cameras that are compatible with existing conditions cameras will also provide the City with the capability to tape any of its own events. Specifications were developed by the staff of Facility Maintenance and Daniels Cabk for video cameras. In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Municipal Code, No' Bidders was published and Request for Bid was sent to ten vendors. On Septemb 1991 the two responses were opened, witnessed and recorded. Televideo San Diego Ruffner Street, San Diego CA 92111, submitted the lowest, most responsive bid amount of $47,241.38 for the purchase of 3 video cameras. FISCAL IMPACT Last year the anticipated cost for the video cameras was $40,000. Funds in the amc $20,000 were brought forward in Facilities Maintenance Account No. 001 -820-5320-35 the video cameras. The total cost of the cameras, including tax and installation is $47,2 the costs to be shared equally by the Carlsbad Cable n/ Foundatibn and the General Staff recommends the appropriation of $3,620 from the General Fund Contingency ac to cover the City's share of the purchase. After this transfer, $1,977,640 will remain contingency account. Funds are available in Cablevision's Trust account for half the pur of the cameras ($23,620.69). EXHIBITS 1. 2.
