INTO ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN II
Council authorize revision of the 91-92 Fiscal Year budget to convert one Secretary
II position to an Engineering Technician II position.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Engineering Department currently has two Secretary II positions, one of which is
vacant. Staff believes it would be a better utilization of resources if the vacant
position were reclassified as an Engineering Technician I I.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The vacant Secretary II position was budgeted at $28,805 annually. The beginning
step for an Engineering Technician is $28,347. Because of the difference in the range
of the budget Secretary II at the top step, the conversion of the position to Technician
II at the bottom step is negligible (savings of $458 annually).
