I CITY A' CITY M MTG./-7-4% FIRE FIGHTER'S PROTECTIVE BOOTS DEPT.PCH RECOMMENDED ACTION: Staff recommends Council adopt Resolution No. 92 - C( , awarding the t: firefighting wear with the option to renew each contract for three (3) additional one ( periods. AND HELMETS ITEM EXPLANATION Last November, the City Council awarded bids to various vendors for firefighting WE the option to renew each contract for two one (1) year periods. There were eighteei of protective clothing on the annual contract last year. Fourteen items have been ac for renewal; however, due to changes in specifications for the boots and helmets, necessary to go out to bid for these four items. In order to take advantage of purchasing in volume for twenty-eight county agencie: proposal for annual usage for firefighters boots and helmets was developed and RE to Bid were sent twelve vendors. Five bids were opened, witnessed and recorc November 19, 1991. Following evaluation by the North County Fire Equipment Comr representative and Purchasing staff, recommendations for the bid award are as folk The lowest, most responsive bid for the Firefighter Boot/Knee Lengt (OSHA), the Structural Firefighters Helmet - Metro II and the Stt Firefighters Helmet - Phoenix II was submitted by Pacific Safety EqL Company, 1 163 Knollwood Circle, Anaheim CA 92801. The lowest, most responsive bid for the Firefighter Boot/Knee Lengt (NFPA) was submitted by Allstar Fire Equipment, Inc., 13450 Brooks C Baldwin Park CA 91706. (1) (2) FISCAL IMPACT Each of the public agencies that participate in the cooperative purchase will plac respective order@) with the selected vendors. The City of Carlsbad's Fire Dep: anticipates spending approximately $6,000 for firefighting wear during this fiscal year. funds are available in Fire Department's Fire Suppression Special Supplies Account N 820-2220-2260. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ci California, as follows: 1. 2. That the above facts are true and correct. That the bid for Items 1, 3 and 4 as shown on Exhibit "A', by Pacific Equipment Company, 11 63 Knollwood Circle, Anaheim CA 92801, is hereby accepted Purchasing Officer is hereby authorized to execute a Purchase Order for these items as tl arises for a period of one year beginning January 1, 1992 through December 31, 1992, option to renew for three one (1) year periods with the increase not to exceed 7% of th in effect at the end of the initial contract period. 3.
