RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Ordinance No. NS-188, approving an amendment to Title 10 of the Carlsb;
Municipal Code to prohibit skateboarding with certain areas of the City.
ITEM EXPLANATION
Ordinance No. NS-188 was introduced and first read at a regular City Council meetir
on December 17, 1991. The second reading allows Council to adopt the ordinan
which would then become effective in thirty days. The City Clerk will have tl
ordinance published in the "Carlsbad Journal" within fifteen days, if adopted.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAF
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10 OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL C
THE ADDITION OF CHAPTER 10.58 TO PROHIBIT SKATEBOARDING
CERTAIN AREAS OF THE CITY
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, does ordain as folk
7 SECTION 1 : That Title 10 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended by the

10.58.01 0 Skateboardina prohibited in certain areas.
It is unlawful for any person to ride a skateboard on private property op
public in a general commercial zone, a neighborhood commercial zone, or in tt
redevelopment zone where signs prohibiting such activity are posted by the OWI
property.
10.58.020 Skateboardins Prohibited - Where
It is unlawful for any person to ride a skateboard in the public parking I
northwest corner of State Street and Grand Avenue, in the public parking lot
Street between Carlsbad Village Drive and Oak Avenue, or in the public sculp
between Oak Avenue and Pine Avenue, west of Carlsbad Village Drive.
10.58.030 Council Mav Regulate or Prohibit bv Resolution
In addition to the general regulations imposed by this chapter, the Ci?
may adopt a resolution regulating or prohibiting the use of skateboards on
public property or public right-of-ways upon the placement of appropriate sigr
