CITY I CITY 1 MTG. DEPT. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. qZ-67 , transferring $5,500 from the video insurance material: account (141-820-4051-2672) to video insurance capital (141-820-4051-3900). INSURANCE FUNDS 3/3/92 LTB JTFiM EXPLANATION Council action on June 7, 1983 authorized the library to establish an audiovisual ins fee and maintenance fund. The fund is used to protect users from high replacement due to loss or damage and provides funds to develop and maintain the collection, in( necessary shelving, processing, and equipment. The library currently has a collection of over 10,000 videotapes, nearly 7,000 of whil in storage. To provide maximum service to the public, the library would like to reloc storage videos to the library and make them directly accessible on open shelves. To 7,000 additional videos in the main library will require more shelving and a rearrang of existing cassette and compact disk collections. Quotes on the special shelving nee1 have come in at just over $5,400, including tax, shipping, and installation. If approt ordered, the shelving would be delivered and installed in July 1992. FISCAL IMPACT Currently there is $24,597 in the AV insurance materials account. The transfer of $5 capital will leave $19,597, an adequate amount for the remainder of the fiscal year fc purchase of new videotapes. EXHIBITS 1. WHEREAS, the Carlsbad City Library maintains a fee-based video insuranc fund; and WHEREAS, the library plans to bring 7,000 videotapes from storage to tht library to make them directly accessible by the public; and WHEREAS, additional shelving will be required to house these materials; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows: 1. 2. That the above recitations are true and correct. That the funds needed to purchase shelving to accommodate the 7,000 storage videos are available in the library's video insurance budget and will total no more than $5,500. 3.
