ITEM EXPLANATION
The City of Carlsbad and thirteen County agencies participated in the joint cooperati
for various types of fire hose.
purchased from this bid which contained six categories and seventeen items. Each ind
public agency will place their respective order(s) with the selected vendors.
A bid proposal for annual usage of fire hose was based on a questionnaire distributed
agencies and Requests for Bid were sent to thirteen vendors. Four bids were 01
witnessed and recorded on December 19,1991. Representatives from San Diego, En(
and Escondido Fire Departments evaluated the bids and made the fol
recommendations.
The lowest, responsive bid for Items 1,2, 3, 7, 8, 10 and 17 was submitted by Halprin 1
Company, 3804 S. Broadway Place, Los Angeles CA 90037.
L. N. Curtis & Sons, 1800 Peralta Street, Oakland CA 94607, submitted the I
responsive bid for Items 4, 5, 6, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16.
FISCAL IMPACT
The City of Carlsbad's Fire Department does not expect to order fire hose during thi
year.

A RESOLUTION OF THE Cliy COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF FIRE
HOSE
WHEREAS, it is advantageous to the City to join with other County agencie:
purchase of fire hose; and
WHEREAS, bid proposals were submitted by four vendors and were judged
known criteria.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of C
California, as follows:

That the above facts are true and correct.
That the bid for Items 1,2, 3, 7, 8, 10 and 17, as shown in the Tabulation
by Halprin Supply Company, 3804 S. Broadway Place, Los Angeles CA 90037, is
accepted and the Purchasing Officer is hereby authorized to execute a Purchase Order 1
items as the need arises for a period beginning March 15,1992 through December 31,1<
the option to renew for two one (1) year periods with an increase not to exceed 10% of tt
in effect at the end of the initial contract period.
