RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Authorize staff to award bid to PRC Public Management Services lncorporated IC
replacement computer terminals in the Police Department's computer aided dispatck
console. PRC is a proprietary vendor to this system.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Police Department's CAD system is five years old. Some of the current c
terminals have required repairs four and five times. The current terminals are no
made by the manufacturer. The Police Department is proposing to replace the i
dispatch terminals with a more reliable up-to-date terminal. The replaced terminals ci
be used to replace broken terminals from other locations in the system until it be
necessary to replace those.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Authorized funds were previously appropriated and are available in the Capital Eql
Account of the Police Asset Forfeiture Funds.

Dear Captain Suttle,
PRC is pleaesad to provide you the requested pricing and information you requested in your letter of January 15. Attached please find priue details you requested for a firm fixed price.
Your understanding fs correct in that bo* WYSE and HDS termhala can caexisk on the PAX allowing you ta swap out the WYSE temfnals at your leisure.
Warranty on the termlnals is one year from delivery. Warranty service is return to depot which is in PennsyXvania. Carlsbad pays shipping to Pennsylvania and HDS pays return shipping. After the one year warranty, maintenance should be possible from DEC. We are currently setting up San Diego Police and Fire Departments with DEC
to provide maintenance of their HDS terminals.
While we are fnrplementh-ig the HDS driver software we do not expect any long oul;ssg~s. The CAD system will be restarted mce to load the new line table for testing purposes. Then, after testing is complete and new HDS terminals are ready to be broughk bnLfne, the terminal table must be updated and CAD restarted,
Assuming a receipt of order by March 1, th~ installation will be completed by June 15, 1992,
