ITEM EXPLANATION
In 1986 the State of California enacted the Unreinforced Masonry Buildin
(Chapter 250, statutes of 1986; SB 547 [August]; Government Code Section 8
seq.). The law was passed to minimize the risk to life from buildings whi
vulnerable to earthquake forces, unreinforced masonry buildings. The law requirc

FISCAL IMPACT
Building owners will be responsible for paying the costs of the engineering analy:
