RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Direct staff to review the Local Conflict of Interest Code and return with an amended code if any changes are necessary.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Political Reform Act (Act) states that "NO later than July 1 of each even- numbered year, the code reviewing body shall direct every local agency . . . to review its Conflict of Interest Code and, if a change in its code is necessitated by changed circumstances, submit an amended Confl ict of Interest Code.. . 'I.
To ensure our continued compliance with the Act, this item is being presented so Council (the Code Reviewing Body) can direct staff to review the City of Carlsbad's Local Conflict of Interest Code (Code).
Staff will review the Code and determine whether any changes are required. If changes are required, an amended Code will be submitted for Council consideration. If no changes are required, staff will provide Council with a written statement to that effect as required by the Political Reform Act.
