CITY COUNCIL COMPENSATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Direct the City Attorney whether or not to return with documents amending the compensation of members of the City
Council.
I ITEM EXPLANATION
State law provides that compensation of City Council members may be increased by ordinance in an amount not to exceed five per cent for each calendar year from the operative date of the last salary adjustment. The last City Council Compensation adjustment became effective following the general election Of November, 1990. Current compensation for City Council members
is $607 per month. State law allows this compensation to be adjusted to $670 per month. If directed to return with the
appropriate legal documents, the salary adjustment would
become effective following the general election of November,
1992.
