If the Council concurs, accept donation of Carrillo Ranch artifact.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Friends of Carrillo Ranch has been donated a gun once belonging to Leo Carrillo
(Exhibit 2) for inclusion into the City of Carlsbad's Carrillo Ranch archive collection.
The donation is a Colt, Single Action, Army 38 Special, serial #1289 SA, manufactured
in 1957. The market value has been estimated at $800 by Duncan Gun Works of San
Marcos. In addition, Craig G. Rogers, a local cabinetmaker has created and will
donate a display case for the artifact. Capital Bank of Carlsbad has also donated a saf
deposit box for the use of storage until such time as the artifact can be displayed for
public viewing.
The donation has been fully checked and cleaned by the Carlsbad Police Department
for safety purposes and will be serviced by the Department on an as needed basis.
The donation was received by the Parks and Recreation Commission on October 19,
1992. The Commission recommended acceptance by the City Council for the Carrillo
Ranch archive collection.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The estimated value of this donation is $800. There will be no cost to the City for
acceptance.

RESOLUTION NO. 92-329
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A DONATION FROM THE FRIENDS OF
CARRILLO RANCH AND MARTHAROSE M. ARNOLD
WHEREAS, the Friends of Carrillo Ranch has been donated a Colt,
Single Action, Army 38 Special, serial #1289 SA by Martharose M. Arnold, and
WHEREAS, the Friends of Carrillo Ranch wish to include this donation a:
part of the Carrillo Ranch artifact collection, and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission has received the
donation and recommended acceptance by the City Council, and
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad City Council wishes to accept this donation an1
included it as part of the Carrillo Ranch artifact memorabilia,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad as follows:
1. That the City of Carlsbad accepts the donation of a Colt, Single
Action, Army 38 Special, serial #1289 SA, officially notarized as once belongin
to Leo Carrillo by Martharose M. Arnold.
2. The donation will be included in the Carrillo Ranch artifact
memorabilia collection.
