RECOMMENDED ACTION:
U&M COMMUNITY SWIM COMPLEX POOL
Adopt Resolution No. ’?a- 334 approving contract documents, special provisions and
specifications, and authorizing the City Clerk to advertise for bids for the Resurfacing
of the Community Swim Complex Pool.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Community Swim Complex was built in 1981. The pool is open year around anc
is utilized extensively by thousands of patrons who participate in the instructional
recreational and competitive swim programs. Due to the age of the pool and its higk
use, the pool surface has begun to show signs of deterioration and is in need 0:
resurfacing to prevent possible structural damage and more costly repairs. The poo
will have to be closed for a period of four to six weeks during resurfacin:g. The mos
opportune time to close the pool is during the months of December and Ja~~uary, whicl
are typically the slowest months, impacting the least number of participants. Tht
estimated cost of the project is $45,000.
Plans and specifications for the resurfacing of the Community Swim Complex Po01 arc
on file with the Utilities and Maintenance Department.
FISCAL, IMPACT:
This project is included in the City‘s approved Major Maintenance Program in thf
Facilities Management budget. Funding for the project is appropriated in accoun
number 001-820-5320-2462.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CLTY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING CONTMCI' DOCUMENTS, SPECIAL
PROVISIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
CLERK TO ADVFXTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE RESURFACING OF THE
COMMUNITY SWIM COMPLEX POOL
WHEREAS, the contract documents, special provisions and specifications fc
resurfacing of the Community Swim Complex Pool have been prepared and are CI
in the Utilities and Maintenance Department of the City of Carlsbad anc
incorporated by reference herein.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Cal
as follows:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. The contract documents, special provisions and specifications as pre2
are hereby approved.
3. The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized and direc
proceed to publish, in accordance with the law, Notice Inviting Bids :
