Adopt Resolution No, 98-3JE: approving plans and specifications and authorizin! City Clerk to advertise for bids for the construction of sidewalks at va, locations as shown on Exhibits 1 and 2.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The City of Carlsbad has established a program of sidewalk construction based
February 1991. Resolution Number 91-164 adopted by the City Council on Ju 1991 established the priority listing of sidewalks as contained in the refer report. The citywide sidewalk construction program was establ ished to facil the installation of sidewalks or sidewalk segments that otherwise would n constructed by 1 and development activity or other programs. Staff wi' designing some projects in-house, as for this project, and other larger sid projects will be designed by a consultant to be retained by the City of Carl This project will provide pedestrian access on major circulation routes that to commercial and residential areas. Additionally, the project will im overall pedestrian circulation and safety.

1 FISCAL IMPACT:
The Engineer's Estimate for this project is $95,000. Previously appropr funding of $600,000 is avail ab1 e for the Local Street/Sidewal k Upgrade Progr the amount of $300,000 from the Traffic Impact Fee (TIF) and $300,000 from Tr;
(local sales tax) funds. In addition, $100,000 has been appropriated i
this time of $700,000.

AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS TO EL CAMINO

WHEREAS, plans, specifications, and contract documents for the fur

necessary or incidental for said project have been prepared and are on
the Engineering Department of the City of Carlsbad; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has prt
appropriated $700,000 for said project; and
WHEREAS, construction of said improvements is a matter of public nt
and safety.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of CI

1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
