FISCAL IMPACT:
The proposed salary range for Fire Prevention Officer II is range 40 of tht
Carlsbad Fire Department salary schedule, which equates to $36,062 to
$43,888 on an annual basis. It is proposed that the salaries for each of
the three incumbents be adjusted from the step within the current salary
range to the same relative step within the new salary range. These
adjustments would be effective at the beginning of the November 23,
1992, pay period, and would cost $7,061. annually. These funds have
already been allocated in the Fire Department budget.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD
CALIFORNIA, TRANSFERRING THE FIRE PREVENTION OFFICER ll
JOB CLASSIFICATION FROM THE GENERAL EMPLOYEES SALARY
SCHEDULE TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SALARY SCHEDULE AND
ESTABLISHING A NEW SALARY RANGE FOR THIS POSITION.
WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends and the City Council
concurs, that the classification of Fire Prevention Officer II should
be included in the Carlsbad Fire Department’s classification plan an
salary schedule.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitation is true and correct.
2. That the City Council authorizes and directs the City
Manager to transfer the classification of Fire Prevention Officer II
from the General Employees Salary Schedule to the Carlsbad Fire
Department Salary Schedule.
3. That the City Council authorizes and directs the City
Manager to add the title of IFire Prevention Officer II to the Carlsbz
Fire Department Salary Schedule at Range 40, $1,387 - $1,688
biweekly, as shown on Attachment A, attached hereto and made a
part thereof.
