RECOMMENDED ACTION:
If the Council concurs, adopt Resolution No. 93-Y/0 accepting a $3,500 donation in
support of Carlsbad Parks and Recreation programs.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Several months ago, department staff solicited a donation from the Fieldstone
Company (Exhibit 2) in order to off set the cost of providing a number of youth

As outlined in the letter of solicitation, the donation will be utilized to provide a
number of youth recreation programs. As requested, and upon Council acceptance of
the grant award, staff will provide the Fieldstone Foundation with a report attesting to
the accountability of the expenditure of funds. In addition, department staff will
prepare a letter of appreciation on behalf of the Parks and Recreation Department.
At the February meeting, the Parks and Recreation Commission received this donation
and unanimously recommended acceptance by the City Council.

Dear Mrs. Bradstreet:
As a community relations spokesperson for Fieldstone LaCosta, I understand you woul
be a resource person to discuss donations which Fieldstone has most generous’
provided to Carlsbad Parks and Recreation Programs in the past and may be able
contribute to in the future.
Currently our department is seeking donations to fund any of a number of you
recreation programs which we would like to provide to our community youth. Howevc
we are somewhat limited in our ability to accommodate these programs without tt
assistance of sponsorships from benevolent community organizations. Specifically tt
programs we are soliciting donations for include:
PO BOX 9000-266
Youth Golf Clinic, January - February 1993- $500
Youth Baseball Clinic, February 1993- $1,000
Festival of Talent - Spring Dance Recital,
March - April 1993- $1,000
.
An additional event we very regrettably have had to eliminate this year do to curre
budget constraints is the Annual Volunteer Barbecue. This event acknowledges ar
salutes the invaluable assistance we receive each year from community volunteers
helping us provide quality special events and programs. Fieldstone is certainly r
exception as your most generous contributions in the past have played a ke)! role in c
ability to provide. Typically the cost of providing this event is $3,000.
Any assistance that Fieldstone could provide would be greatly appreciated, and
always, we are deeply appreciative of your organizations’ past support. Thank you.
Sincerely &nl q
