RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends acceptance of work in accordance with Contract No. U/M 93-5 as
complete and requests direction to the City Clerk to have the Notice of Completion
recorded and to release the bonds thirty-five days after recordation. I ITEM EXPLANATION:
On December 15, 1993, the City Council awarded Contract No. U/M 93-5 in the
amount of $38,850 to Derek Downey Pool and Spa for the resurfacing of the
Community Swim Complex Pool. Minor change orders amounting to $4,500 resulted
in a total contract amount of $43,350. The contractor's work is now complete and is
acceptable to the Utilities and Maintenance Director.
In addition, during the pool closure, Facilities Management staff took the opportuniQ
to replace the 500-watt pool lights with energy saving 28-watt fluorescent lamps.
These new lamps have an operational life ten times longer than the old ones and will
result in a projected annual savings of $2,100.
The project is complete and the pool was reopened on February 22 after several rain
delays. The total cost of $50,490 was well under the budget of $60,000.
