RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Introduce Ordinance No. H5- 2 31 amending the Carlsbad Municipal Ca
designate NO PARKING between 12:OO Midnight and 6:OO A.M. on the easterl!
southerly sides of Car Country Drive.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
In 1989, at the request of the Car County Dealer Association, a TWO-HOUR parking
was established on both sides of Paseo Del Norte and Car Country Drive. The p:
restriction is in effect between the hours of 8:OO A.M. and 6:OO P.M., Monday thi
Friday. Problems with vehicles parking on the street for long durations promptf
request since these vehicles caused on-street parking shortages for customers v
the automobile dealerships.
Staff received a letter dated February 8,1993 from the automobile dealerships local
Car Country Drive requesting a change to the parking restriction on the easterl
southerly sides of Car Country Drive. Because of shortages of employee parking c
for each automobile dealership, they have requested a change in the restricted pi
hours such that employees can park on the easterly and southerly sides of Car Cc
Drive during the day. The TWO-HOUR zone on the westerly and northerly sides (
Country Drive would remain unchanged.
This item was discussed at the Traffic Safety Commission meeting of March 1, 199
a 5-0 vote, the Commission recommended establishing a NO PARKING zone betwet
hours of 12:OO midnight and 6:OO A.M. on the easterly and southerly sides of Car Cc
Drive between Auto Center Court and Paseo Del Norte. The existing TWO-HOUR p(
zone on the westerly and northerly sides of Car County Drive will remain and
affected by the Traffic Safety Commission recommendation.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Removing and replacing the existing nine signs to indicate new NO PARKING hoL
cost $900.00.

We. the Automobile Dealers. whose dealerships are located on
Country Drive in Carisbad, request the parking restrictions on
Country Drive be changed. We are asking that the East and So
side of Car Country Drive be changed from 2 hour parking to
parking 12a.m. to 6a.m. only, and that the North Side of
Country Drive remain a 2 hour parking zone as it currently is.

10, CHAPTER 10.40 OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY 7
AMENDMENT OF SECTION 10.40.073 TO DECLARE "NO PARKING" BETWE
12:OO MIDNIGHT AND 6:OO A.M. ON THE EASTERLY AND SOUTHERLY SIDES
CAR COUNTRY DRIVE FROM AUTO CENTER COURT TO ITS INTERSECT1
WITH PASEO DEL NORTE.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California hereby ordains as follows
SECTION 1: That Title 10, Chapter 10.40 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code i:
by the revision of Section 10.40.073 to read as follows:
"1 0.40.073 Parkinq Restricted on Car Country Drive:
a. There will be Two-Hour Parking on the westerly and northerly s
Country Drive between the hours of 8:OO a.m. and 6:OO p.n

intersection with Paseo Del Norte.
There will be No Parking on the easterly and southerly sic

EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty days after its adopt,
City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published
