RECOMMENDED ACTION!
PROJECT NO. 3364
Adopt Resolution No. 93- 13 5 appropriating additional funds for the completion of
Adams Street Alignment Study, Project No. 3364.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The City Council previously adopted Resolution No. 89-41 2 establishing a special str
designation as "hillside" street for Adams Street between Harrison Street and Park Drr
The designation was made because it was determined that the hillside nature of 1
segment of roadway warranted a refined design to minimize potential impacts on
adjacent properties.
On March 24, 1992, the City Council awarded a contract to Dudek and Associates for
alignment study of Adams Street. The consultant has completed the study and propo:
several alternatives. Staff has reviewed the proposed alignments and will submit it to
public, Planning Commission, and Coastal Commission for approval.
To finalize the study and have an approved alignment, staff has applied for a Planni
Commission Determination (PCD) and upon approval by the Planning Commission, s
will apply and secure the Coastal Development Permit for the preferred alignment.
Approval of the alignment will facilitate the development of the properties along the rc
with uniform strelet improvement, and enhance safety to pedestrians and bicyclists.
The previously appropriated funds were for the alignment study and have been expendl
Additional funds in the amount of $17,000 are necessary for the environmental studi
Resource Agency approval, processing, and public hearings.
The conclusion lof these processes will result in a street alignment that will allow t
orderly development of Adams Street.

Staff recommends that $17,000 be appropriated to the project account from the Gc
Capital Construction (GCC) fund balance. After appropriation to the project accoun
GCC available fund balance will be $1,025,000.

RESOLUTION NO. 93-135
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR THE ADAMS
STREET ROADWAY ALIGNMENT STUDY, PROJECT NO. 3364
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad requires the services
environmental consultant to perform a supplemental environmental study for the Adam
Alignment Study between Harrison Street and Park Drive; and
WHEREAS, the expenditure of $4,443 for the supplemental environmental survey i
approved.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it necessary, desirable and in the public in1
approve the appropriation of additional funds in the amount of $17,000 to finalize the
Street Alignment Study.
WHEREAS, sufficient funds are available in the Miscellaneous Professional Servicr
1993 Operating Budget Account No. 001 -820-31 10-2479.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of C
